Each State and every Federal Agency maintain its own Unclaimed Property Division. With nearly 50 million records in our database, the following search hints will assure that one will locate their unclaimed money.
- Unclaimed money accounts are transferred to Government agencies in the precise name as the Owner had signed. Be sure to search under a maiden name, various spellings of one’s first name, nicknames or a possible misspellings of the last name. Even use a middle initial. The more specific the name search will increase one’s chances of locating your lost money.
- For a more thorough search, you may wish to reverse the order and enter FIRST NAME(space)LAST NAME. States and other Gov. agencies that list their records as First Name Last Name:

- A business unclaimed account must be searched by its exact name ie:
1. The Bagel Factory 2. A & B Glass Company 3. A and B Insurance Company
- Do not use commas or other punctuations i.e.) for O'Brien enter OBrien.
- Many Government agencies by law cannot list the actual list the actual dollar unclaimed amount. In such case the unclaimed amount is listed as “not disclosed”. A ”not disclosed” unclaimed asset could be $1000s!
- Unclaimed asset amounts listed as “$0” or “unknown” are likely securities or safe deposit box contents whose value cannot be determined until the Government agency sells the asset and credits the owner’s account with the proceeds.
- Also many Government agencies do not identify the unclaimed asset with a Property ID. In such case, the Property ID is indicated as “not disclosed”.
- Many individuals have multiple unclaimed accounts and States often list each unclaimed account separately.
- Many Government agencies Unclaimed Property Divisions are understaffed and cannot update regularly, so search our database regularly.
- A few Government agencies do not publish unclaimed property until the lost asset has been in its custody for 2 years.
All assets issued or owing by Federal Agencies and assets issued by many State or local governments themselves (payroll and vendors checks) will not show up in State databases.
ONLY our database has all these unclaimed assets from all States and 12 Federal Government agencies.
